I got my first golf club when I was 9 years old but I only had one lesson. When I was 10 we had mini kids golf at my primary school and I started playing. After a while I started going to group sessions at my local golf club in Tidworth where I was taught by one of the pros - Charlie Gold. I then progressed to the junior academy with the head pro at Tidworth. Charlie moved away as he found a new job however I still have individual lessons with Charlie as he is my main coach.

Practise - week ending 05/02/12
My practice has been a lot better this week, we've been to the playing fields 3 times and done 7 iron block practice. We went to the club for 2 hours Saturday afternoon - I started with chipping to 30 yrds but could seem to get the swing right and it was not very good. We then did some general bunker practise which was okay followed by some pitching which was also okay. We did N,E,S,W putting and I scored 12/16 at 3 foot and 7/12 at 6 foot.

saturday golf practice with Charile
On Saturday me and my dad went to see Charlie. Soon as we arrived Charlie arrived we then went into the restaurant and sat down and talked about the past month, about when we practice and the different exercises that I can do. Soon after we went to the range and practiced block practice which I didn’t know about at the time. We did that for about 1hour and half then we went to the putting green and practice different distances. Once we had done the practice we went onto the course. The first hole went really bad but it gradually got better and towards the end I got some really long putts, then it came to an end so me and my dad went home.

New Clubs
So second week back at the Academy yesterday and before the session started Dad sorted out my new clubs. A straight swap for my old size for the next size up with the addition of a 3 wood!
Whilst the clubs are nice and new they are longer and heavier which of course meant I played rubbish!
On the up side I now need a new bag and trolley as the new clubs are too big :-)

First time back to Academy
As you know from a previous post I had to stop playing golf for over 4 weeks in November due to a problem with my legs. Since I was able to start again in December I have been trying to practise 2-3 times a week just grabbing 10 or 20 minutes after school before it gets dark or going up to the club at the weekend for an hour or so.
Yesterday was the first time back at the Academy and it went really well - the practise paid off! I played as well as the last time I was at Academy back in October, it was like I had never had the long break. Even better was the fact that Terry told Dad my clubs are too short and that I would need some longer ones!

Not played for over a month
4 weeks a go on Wednesday I woke up and couldn't walk which meant I was unable to play golf which I didn’t like very much as I was stuck in doors.
